382 Cockpit Table

Does anyone have plans for a cockpit table for a 382? I realize that it will have to come down when under sail because of the mainsheet arrangement. Dick

I have an extra leaf for my salon table that doubles as a cockpit table. It is simply rectangular ( I can get the dimensions for you, if you like) and has short four screw in legs, (the after two are slightly longer than the forward ones. The after legs have a metal rod protruding from the bottom that fits nicely in the traveler holes. The forward legs have felt pads and sit on the outside step to the companionway. When not in use, I store it behind the forward cabin door. What more can I tell you?

I have the standard Edson cockpit table which I have customized for the 382. The Edson table has brackets that are for a vertical wheel guard and have stops. I used the brackets cut two pieces of teak to form the right angle for the angled wheel guard screwed the brackets and teak to the table bottom and thats it. Table long side goes across the width of the boat and using the traveler, move the main sheet to either side and it has worked great for 20 years. I did the same thing with a four drink holder which goes above the table. That required sawing some of the stainless mounting gear and more angled teak Happy Sailing

Phillip, I'm also interested in your extra leaf for the salon table. How does that work. Dick

Dick, Thank you for the response. I'll have to look into the literature on the Edson Table. Dick

<div>I have built a cockpit table out of cutting board material and edged with teak. It has two inward folding leaves and is easily removed from the pedistal guard. It utilizes a leg from the dining table. It measures 13 X 35 in. when folded and 25 X 35 in. when opened. It works either in the folded position or opened and the entry doors clear when opening and closing.I have also rebuilt my salon table, making it wider, longer, and increasing storage. It measures 11 X 42 in. when the leaves or down and 48 1/2 X 42 when unfolded. The top has two hinged fore and aft compartment covers. The table doesn't obstruct and I can still create a salon berth that is ideal as a sea berth.

Any chance of getting photos or a sketch of your cockpit and salon tables? How do you attach the cockpit table to the wheel stanchion? Thank you for the response. Dick/MUFTI.

<div>I have a cockpit table that is similar. However, I do not have a pedistal guard. My table has pins that slip into the travler track to support the aft end. A pieace of webbing secures the table to the pedistal. The front end is supported by a leg from the salon table. It works OK. However, I have a simple folding plastic table that I have had for years and used on other boats that I like better. It is light, folds quickly and is easly stoable. It is similar to one West sells for around $17. However, I found my at Wal Mart. Pretty it ain't. Functional it is.Vic C.

<div>The cockpit table attaches to the pedestal guard by two Magma Rail attachments with wing nuts. They attach to a curved 1" ss bar that attaches to pedestal guard horizontally between the wheel lock and the forward/rev. lever. This bar also keeps the travelar away from the pedestal. The salon table is a great improvement form the stock Morgan table because it allows two people to sit on the stdbd. side and two on the port. The fifth is a littleless comfortable but still reaches okay. The main benefit is the interior and lower storage which is much greater.
