Yes, It has been a while and yes, I was referring to Chris Sr. I'm sorry to hear that Sr is no longer with us. He was a character and I learned so much from him. Not sure if I ever worked with Chris Jr., but Sr did work on our former boat.
Our home port is Galesville, but currently on the...
Did you mean that you will be replacing it with a newer 3GM30F, not another QM? If so, there is a weight difference between the 2 and the GM is a higher RPM engine which will probably mean a new propeller. I have no experience between the physical layout differences.
It has been my observation in talking with others that the price of Volvo parts will make your eyes bleed. Be sure to look at not only availability of parts but also their prices. I know of one person who needed to replace a Volvo oil cooler that would fit in your hand. It's price was $3500...
Hi folks,
This model Yanmar is new to me and we are starting to get to know each other. I am not able to locate the oil pressure switch that activates the alarm and light on the engine panel. The oil pressure alarm didn't work when I purchased this boat, and I'm going through the engine in...
Thanks Toph3r, that was helpful to see. There are 4 holes in my cockpit side that I couldn't figure out and I now see that the bulkhead at one time hung from them.
Travis, I was considering doing the same thing and fill in the 4 holes. My goal is to make the bulkhead/divider removable in case...
Yes, nothing. When I step into the lazarette, my feet slide down into the engine bed.
I'm trying to figure out how to install a removable panel / bulkhead.

Hi folks, I own hull number 5 and there isn't a bulkhead between the port lazarette and the engine. I'm not sure if it has been modified or what was there from the factory. It isn't
ideal since the contents of the lazarette can end up on the engine and shaft.
Can someone tell me what was...
Mark Hampton, Satori is now also for sale on Craigslist both in Vermont and Rhode Island! I emailed them about it and I'm going to see if I can give them the run around and waste their time. I HATE scammers!
Thanks Jim, As you mentioned, I do think my mattress is a lot thicker. I had been judging other v berths by the distance under the port shelf. For some reason, the PO made the mattress all one piece with no cut out. Changing that is on the list since struggling with a solid mattress is a pain.
My wife and I will give you a shout when we are in the Bay again. Our homeport is Galesville, and we used to own a house in Shady Side. It's been 15 plus years since we've been back, but it's on our list. We are currently on the Tennessee River just north of Chattanooga.
Folks, I've been looking at photos of other 382 v berths and none seem as high as ours. We have hull #5 and it is quite a challenge to launch one's self into bed.
The wood and trim seem to be original, and if I stick my head into the port cabinet, it seems like the over - under berth...
This is the scenario that I have also heard about. I've also heard of raw water sneaking past a worn face plate on the pump. I was curious if Morgan installed the vented loop on the 3QM30. It's cheap enough to add one, but they are worthless if one lets the vent get clogged with salt, etc.
I'm going through my (new to me) Yanmar 3QM30 by checking all maintenance items and not assuming that anything is correct.
The raw water hose that injects cooling water into the exhaust elbow doesn't have a vented loop and I'm wondering if that is the case with other 3QM30s in the Morgan 382...
