    Ventilation Hatch in the Head?

I have a rule on Sonata that whenever the hatches are closed, they get latched snug. No exceptions. For that very reason as well as leaks

    Really bad day.

Beautiful! That's great news Warren, and I'm happy for you. I hope it exceeds all your expectations. Mitchell

    Really bad day.

I didn't want to say things will be better. Seemed a bit cliche. But I'm glad you feel this way. I had a similar situation years ago. Leaving tha company and situation was the best event!

    Really bad day.

Warren, I'm sorry to hear this. I know from what you've said in the past, your job situation wasn't pleasant. Hoping the best for you! And Eliana. Mitchell

    Ventilation Hatch in the Head?

Well that's even worse than I had read Warren! Thank you for the real world experience. And sorry they didn't work. They certainly aren't even reasonably priced! Mitchell

    Ventilation Hatch in the Head?

Hi Terry, If I do this I'll most likely go with a Bomar hatch, at least similar to exsisting on Sonata. Pricey, but at least I'm not replacing all of them! I too have considered a mushroom vent, or a solar vent. But have read some poorer reviews of the solar vents. I'd like to be able to get...

New owner, 1979 382 "Island girl"

I second Warren. I doubt anyone used it for Pole controls. That looks more like what is in my Lifesling for hoisting of person overboard. And using it would probably create more hassle in that situation. I don't think I have any other tackle like that on Sonata. Other than perhaps the...

    Rudder Nut Wrench

No problem! I know there are some new folks here now, so thought I'd put these out there again. Only 5 left ready to ship. Order before Midnight tonight! Operators standing by. Anyway just let me know what you need. Thank you

    Ventilation Hatch in the Head?

I'm considering a small vent hatch for the head on Sonata. Roughly 12x12" +/- Has anyone installed something like this. Any real world feedback? If so, what did you do to trim it out inside? Installation recommendations, etc.? Thanks, Mitchell

    Rudder Nut Wrench

Bringing this older thread back up... I still have a few 3.25" Rudder nut wrenches if anyone would still like one. $53.00 each plus whatever shipping is. I can also make other sizes too. For instance Sonata's propeller shaft gland nut measures 2.10". Some other boats also seem to have a 3.38"...

On today’s edition of “Dumb Newbie Questions”…

Thanks Terry! One issue was building a box the bottles would fit. They were just about as small as i could find to fit in through the original hatch. They didn't have much extra space even going into the locker opening, before the box. I used some underlayment ply that was only about 3/16"...

On today’s edition of “Dumb Newbie Questions”…

Terry, Yes, I expected to see thicker laminate there. But was surprised it was quite significant. As far as the lazerette, I was unable to access the areas to seal the bulkhead to everything. After I had all else finished, and tanks mounted and plumbed. I then built a dedicated LPG "BOX" that...

On today’s edition of “Dumb Newbie Questions”…

I recently bored a hole for my LPG locker drain. Just forward of the transom. Almost on centerline. It measured over an inch thick. But perhaps thicker there where the all the layup comes together. None the less, it was impressive. And drilling from the dinghy was a challenge ;) Mitchell

On today’s edition of “Dumb Newbie Questions”…

Well, that said, Sonata is a 383. The traveller is on the cabin. The boat has been extensively singlehanded. So it's not a show stopper. I much prefer it on the cabin. The main winch is starboard side at the rear of the cabin and self tailing. I know everyone has differing opinions on this...

    Chart Table Project

I need to do something like this too. Even after organizing the chart table, mines still a mess!

West Systems indeed! Get the pumps and it's just so simple.

Agree, I can't imagine Morgan would have used epoxy. Vinylester or polyester moat likely. But who knows?

    Eliana Haul out.

I have gone through the same dilemma regarding our boats. The Morgan's are well built for the most part, and very nice. I don't have any point of reference as far as speed and offshore work. I've never raced Sonata. Although she did the Pac Cup some years before we owned her. I am aware of our...

Haha, very nice John. I won't tell the committee!

The head, toilet should discharge up and through a vented loop above the waterline and then down to a seacock in the hull.
