    New Mast

Thank you to all Morgan owners who generously shared ideas, time, measurements and perspectives as we worked to rebuild our mast. Alas – it is done! I had promised to share a few findings once the work was completed. Possibly much of the following is common-sense, but it may help others. My...

    Morgan 384 mainsail and bag

I have purchased a new mainsail for our Morgan 384. The current main has a few years of life left in it; replacement is largely a question of timing for us. I am replacing at this time as part of a refit while in Florida. If you have an interest in the mainsail and sail bag, please let me know...

    Mast step for sale

As I replace my mast on our Morgan 384, the mast step (about 10 years old) is available. If you have a need for it, please let me know. It is available while I am in Florida over the next couple of weeks.

Need A Morgan 384 Mainsail (used)

Hello Swifty31, I have a new mainsail being delivered in mid-October. At that time, I will retire my existing mainsail which is in "good" condition. It has no major problems and there are a few years wear left in it. Is this of interest? Maurice

    Fresh Water System Replacement Project

Thank you, Warren, for your explanation. That makes great sense and it is great news. The new faucet work (among many projects) can now proceed. I appreciate the help!

    Fresh Water System Replacement Project

Beautiful work, Mark. Not only is your work extensive, it shows professional workmanship. Thanks for posting all of the details as this is helpful for those of us who venture down your various paths. I have a fairly specific plumbing question for anyone on the Morgan38 site with regard to the...

    New Mast

Thank you, Mitchell. All really good information. The measurement is helpful. It gives me a "working version" with which to compare. Funny how one never takes any of these common heights into consideration before really needing it. Fully battened and loose footed. Interesting. Although I have...

    New Mast

Hi Mitchell, Not urgent, but if you get a chance to confirm the height of your boom off the deck, I would welcome it. Thank you, Maurice

    New Mast

I am continuing work on finalizing the mast order having moved the boat across the Gulf Stream. Does anyone happen to have ready access to their 384? I would welcome a quick measure of the boom height from cabin roof top near mast to the top of boom (BH measure on the diagram below)...

    Rudder Shaft Packing Wrench

Hi Mitchell, I was able to measure the packing nut on my 384 today. Like John Flanzer's measurement, mine also turned out to be 3 3/8". Are you able to produce one more of these? I will send a payment via PayPal once I know if creating a wrench with this specialized measure works for you...

    Rudder Shaft Packing Wrench

Hi Mitchell, The wrench looks beautiful. I am on your list, but I just found the thread again so I may be a little late. Am I too late to send funds and have you forward a wrench to me? Also, seeing that you have a few sizes, do I need to get a measure of the existing packing nut on the 384...

Mounting rigid solar panels on the bimini

I had a similar solar panel mount setup as Jim Cleary - the connections were mounted directly onto the upper bimini tubing (see photos below). In my case, I need to remove the bimini canvas and reinstall it each year. It is admittedly painful each year as I disconnect a number of pieces and...

    New Mast

Hi Bert, Thank you for the ideas. The mast height measure is starting to take shape. As per your suggestion, I have relied more on the P measure plus the Q (deck step to cabin roof) plus the distance to top of boom. Given the height of the furling drum plus some base hardware to raise the drum...

    New Mast

Thank you so much for your feedback, George, and for your generous offer to answer questions, given your experience. A recent conversation with Selden cleared up a misunderstanding; they plan to custom build the mast, rather than use earlier measures. I really appreciate knowing your thoughts...

    New Mast

I am continuing the research around purchasing a 384 mast. We have exhausted searching for a used mast so I am looking closely at the Selden mast. I received a drawing with measurements from Selden titled "Morgan 384 Dashner", which are the measurements Selden plans to use for my mast. I assume...

    New Mast

Hello Tony, Thank you for your offer. Unfortunately, I live a long ways away from my boat and also a long ways away from New Orleans. Owning two boats, both at a great distance, and trying to part one out would prove more than we want to undertake. As well, your boat sounds too nice to be...

Fabricating a Rudder Packing Nut Wrench

Hello Mitchell, If I am not too late, I am also interested in a wrench. I don't have access to my boat I will assume that the size is standard for the 384's. Thank you for doing this work, Maurice

    New Mast

Hello Terry, The price range between a mast alone and a mast with all the “fixins” is significant. When I first looked at the price of mast (alone), I thought it was a real deal. However, such items as a mast step, a deck collar, standing rigging, boom, vang, furler, lights, cleats and optional...

    New Mast

Sure appreciate your note, George. I am currently reviewing the Selden option and knowing that it fit through the deck and that no adjustments were needed at the chain plates is very helpful. In keeping with your decision, I will be exploring keeping the existing boom.
