    Keel hull joint crack

To me, the photos indicate a hard grounding or striking a hand object. I suppose another possibility could be a bad blocking at a haulout.

    382 Hull #22 Pre-Survey Inspection

the Morgan 38 series is a great boat and can be found at reasonable prices. My advice is to find one that has had an experienced owner’s Love and money spent to update the vessel. This may mean you have to travel or rely on a friend or trusted broker and inspector to recommend a boat and you...

    Tabbing

Just a note, I remember hearing of a number of unfinished hulls or partially completed boats, that were sold after Morgan had financial problems in the late 80's. I believe it's a good idea to inspect any bulkhead tabbing you can access to make sure it is not separating. Jim

No. I never ran it that far aft, no need to. You could run the sheet through the outer track block and then to the winch.

Companionway Doors - Hinged & Removable

There are many pics on the archive Maluhia site. If you are building new companion way doors, I would think about adding Lexan panels for light and view of the cockpit from the cabin. Jim

    Re routing Bilge discharge

In addition, when I referred to pump lift specs, I was not just referring to lift but the capacity of the pump(s) to discharge water from the boat. Jim http://www.yachtsurvey.com/bilge_pumps.htm

    Re routing Bilge discharge

Of course, but I was mentioning the torpedo tube and it’s attachment/sealing to the hull. The bilge and waste are protected by a siphon break and are not discharged into the torpedo tube.

    Re routing Bilge discharge

In my experience, the only problem/issue with the torpedo tube is a lack of maintenance where the tube exists the hull. That seal, which is designed to be flexible, needs to be maintained and inspected to prevent seawater entering the boat, I can speak from experience! Any pump should meet lift...

Differences between the 5' and 6' draft versions?

Based on my knowledge, keel depth directly relates to both stability and righting moment. Maluhia is a 6 ft. draught Morgan and although I have not sailed a 5 foot model, for off shore sailing I would opt for the deeper keel. Here is an article that will test your math. Jim...
