European CE Certificate - selling my 382

Hello dear forum,

I'm trying to sell my 382 in the EU since that's where the boat is. I fell in love with a Catamaran I'm looking to upgrade to and won't be doing the sail back across the Atlantic in her, where I feel I could probably sell her more easily.

Problem is I need a CE certification (safety/emissions/etc) in order to sell and import my boat here. Cost is around 4k euros and only possible by finding a mechanic that won't look too close at the Yanmar since that old beast is definitely not easily certifiable.

Has anyone tried to get the CE docs for your Morgan? Apparently I can re-use any previous certificate if I can find it.

The other option is to just find an American/non-EU buyer and not have to deal with EU paperwork.

So, if anybody is interested in an offshore ready, circumnavigated Morgan 382 from 1979 in Barcelona, let me know. I will soon put her up with a broker here that will help me with all the EU logistics.

Cheers

Hi Andre - welcome to the forum. Pretty boat, and clever name (SeaPlusPlus). I'm a developer & got a snort out of it. Sorry I don't have any info on CE certs, but hopefully someone here does. I vaguely recall seeing a picture of your boat, I think sailing past New York City? Or perhaps is was another dark hulled M38 with a radar/vane mast on the stern.

Hey Mark, glad you got the reference. Sometimes it can be a bit awkward to explain the name, especially in Spanish speaking countries... "Be more more"?

Not sure if it was this boat. Maybe the previous owner 4+ years ago, but I haven't been to NYC in a boat yet.

I think you may also have to deal with VAT tax in Europe. Foreign listing say VAT tax paid. Hope I'm wrong.
Have no answers to your question.

Yep VAT will be due as well. The price of the boat will account for this.

Honestly I wish I had more time to run back across the Atlantic with her, or privately list and sell to an American but I kinda shot myself in the foot getting another boat while also being very busy with work at the moment. Having two boats is no fun.. :D

So if anybody wants a great 382 for cheap in Barcelona...

Hi Andre, you fell in love with a cat, well I have a picture of a 382 Morgan that I found on the internet years ago that I fell in love with the color scheme, the extra teak around ports and the overall layout on the deck. I know the picture of the boat has floated around the Morgan site. I saw you boat and looked at the picture that I saved and I will say it must be yours. If you were any closer I would be tempted to buy. Gorgeous looking boat! Rick

FYI - I forwarded a link to this page to a gentleman in Sweden who was very interested in my boat but just could not make the logistics of getting it from Boston to Stockholm work for either of us.
