Where is Pilgrim?

We haven't heard from Jeff in a while. Just wondering how Pilgrim's refit is coming. Is she ready to splash yet?

Jim

I've been wondering how they are doing too ... his last login is showing back on Feb 4, almost 4 months ago. I hope everything is going okay with them.

Hello M38 gang, Pilgrim and I are still in Beaufort. The focus of my "refit" energies has changed from Pilgrim to personal. My marriage of 15 years has dissolved over the past 12 months. Pilgrim, her refit, and future travels were a shared dream. It has been very difficult for me to engage with Pilgrim as the thoughts of dashed dreams surge within me when I step aboard. My eyes are tearing up even typing these thoughts. By the end of summer I expect to solely own Pilgrim. I am spending most of the summer traveling for work (as a bicycle tour guide for Carolina Tailwinds Tours and an whitewater instructor for NC Outward Bound School) I truly hope that when I return from the summer travels I can find a fresh breeze to reinvigorate my passion for Pilgrim's progress. Anyone interested in my travels and adventures outside of M38's can follow along via instagram @jeffalovett

Thank you all so very much for your compassion and concern. It feels good to be part of this community.

Jeff, As an avid follower of your progress with Pilgrim and all your comments here, I have no doubt you are a good man. I wish you strength as you face your current challenges and that you find the way to enjoy long term happiness. All my best. Peter

Jeff

We all sympathize with your dreams being delayed or altered. Best to wait out the storm and set sail again when the weather clears. We all look to hear from you again when your ready.

Jim

Hi Jeff, stay strong my friend. If you need help with your boat or anything else just let me know. If you find yourself back in St Pete again let's get together. Call anytime.

Tim

Hey, Jeff - I've never met you in person, but I can tell by your craftsmanship & the places you work that you are tough & have some tenacity. Time really does heal wounds & I hope after your summer, Pilgrim gets back in your blood. She is, after all, a little spoiled and I'm sure she misses your attention.;)

Thanks again for your support and compassion. Simply re-engaging with this community builds my resolve and stokes inspiration to continue forward aboard Pilgrim. I sincerely hope to meet you all out on the water in the future.

Jeff, I'm very sorry to hear this. Both about the boat and the marriage. I'm at a loss for words. Ugh. Good luck on both fronts, brother.

Ken

Jeff, it looks like I'll be passing again through Beaufort, this time in October this year on a friend's boat, I will let you know as I get closer. We might need crew again! :) Best of everything on your plans, and I hope you get that boat in the water and into the blue, it is, after all, the perfect boat....

Rolf

Jeff,
My heart sank hearing this news. Stay strong Brother, this to will pass. The ocean is the common passion that ties us all together, the boats are just one of many tools used to pursue our watery passions. Keep in mind you have miles of ocean parks and beaches in your back yard that you can access by car. While you take a break from Pilgrim still go down to the sea!
Best Wishes,
David

I have been where you are, And its sad. Time will heal most of the wounds. Your doing right keeping your mind busy. Stay on track . Your such a giver. Good things will happen again . Fix your boat up and some day a Lady will come back in your life. Take it slow. Took me 9 years !
Love me , love my animals and my boat , Or the door swings out ! Remarried 18 years now. Lee

Jeff, I don't know you, nor you me, but I have learned a lot about a Morgan 38 by reading your blog on your refit, and so am grateful for that.
Have had a marriage dissolve as well, and know the pain. Believe me it passes. Stay focused on yourself, use the time to get your head together. Feel the pain, but don't let it overwhelm you. It does pass.
Would love to see Pilgrim splash again and I hope you feel like blogging it as you finish her.
Stay strong.
