Tesla-powerwall-specs

At $350/kWh, that's pretty attractive - even compared to flooded lead-acid. With a 10 year warranty, they must be planning on a high number of cycles. It would most likely be cycled daily in a typical residential application though there is no info on what the battery management system will limit depth of discharge to. Reasonable to think of a boat electrical system designed to operate at 120-V AC with inverter-based generator/charger and converters for a limited amount of 12-V DC power. Trying to adapt a battery like this into a more conventional 12V system doesn't look like a good idea. Boost charger to take 12V to 450 Volts for charging could be a problem. To charge at C/10 means more than 1 kW input for 10 hours (about 90 Amps at 12 Volts). Battery could accept higher charge rate but you aren't going to do that with a conventional engine-mounted alternator. Solar and wind charging would require high voltage boost circuits.
