Craigslist maine 382 for sale

Just looking at marine stuff at Captain Jims salvage. 382 for sale $8500. Estate sale Emanon isn’t that Al Shapiro’s boat

I don't know him but I seem to recall his name from this forum when it was on the old site.... but don't remember the name of his boat....

Emanon was for sale by Al Shapiro, who was a member of this group back awhile. He must have passed away? We were told Emanon is "No Name" spelled backwards.
The boat was in the same yard as the boat you bought, Rick, when we were looking, six years ago now, and we were interested and had a survey done. The survey found some issues and logistics that we thought would cost a lot of money, and we didn't come to terms and backed out of that purchase. We eventually bought a different 382 which seemed to be in better shape and had more upgrades already done. I don't know where Emanon has been in the meantime but that sounds like a very low price, since it was a fairly solid boat just a few years ago. I have the out of date survey of it in my files if anyone is interested.

Looks like Al Shapiro was last on this forum in October 2017, so 2-1/2 years or so. He joined January 2004. I hope he's okay!
Clever boat name.

I see the boat is no longer listed in Craigslist. Maybe who bought it will show up on this site someday.

Hello all, posting to introduce myself and. . . to end the mystery of Emanon's listing for sale and current condition!

She seems to still be in fairly good shape and just in need of a bit of fiberglass repair on the keel/black water tank from being improperly positioned on a trailer when last hauled (will start a separate thread on that).

Glad to be joining such an active and engaged owner's forum!

Hi Pete, and welcome to the forum and to being a Morganeer. Also thanks for the contribution for the site.

I hope your experience with your M38 is as full, rewarding and fun as ours has been. ;)

Cheers,
-Mark

Hi Pete welcome to the site!
Did you find the site before or after you bought the boat?
Where is your home port going to be?

Pete , I keep my boat in Rockland. I don’t have it in yet I am hoping in a week it will be ready. This year I concentrated on shining up the hull. By the end I think I will have 40 hours of buffing, polishing and waxing.

Hello Pete,
To quote Mark Twain... "The rumors of my death are grossly exaggerated" I think Capt Jim thought that my death enhanced the story. Pete I promise my ghost does not rattle the anchor chain or pace the decks at night. At least not yet!

Upon our retirements Pat and I started to travel more and have enjoyed it so much that EMANON was neglected and not used for the past 3 seasons. The boat was a real bargain prompted by the sale of our home & yard where the boat was stored. The above-the-listing-price offer on our house required the boat to be moved quickly so with a lot of mixed emotions we sold her.

Pete, you got a good buy and with and investment of time and money (always the lubricant that smooths your sailing) you should enjoy her for many years.

Good Health and Happy Sailing to all of the members of this forum, you have been a big part of our enjoyment of our great boat.

BE AWARE! I may still haunt the forum once in a while when I am not visiting Emanon.

Alan, I thought the pirate’s reputation preceded him, but this is entirely new ground! Nonetheless, so very glad to hear that you are well and thriving! My brother and I got her in the water after patching up the keel there in Southern Maine. We serviced the fuller, replaced a bit of running rigging and plumbing, re-bedded the fuel tank manifold, and a few other odds and ends, and she’s sailing around!

Hope to cross paths with you at some point, and in the meantime, I wish you VERY fair winds!

I hope you enjoy her as much as we did for 38 years. Write if you have any questions.

We are now in Kittery Point if you're in the area anytime.

Hi Mr. Shapiro, this is one of Pete's brothers Eddy, so glad to hear from you, and also be the owner of such a luxurious and well kept sailing vessel! I have been at work across the ocean for the last 3 months, and am very excited about returning home at the end of September and spending 3 weeks cruising the coast of Maine in Emanon revisiting all of the amazing island destinations that my family visited as a child on our 29ft vineyard vixen "owl". Pete and I very much look forward to communicating with you more, and hopefully taking a sail some day!

Eddy

Hello Pete,
To quote Mark Twain... "The rumors of my death are grossly exaggerated"

Hi there, Alan - that’s my favorite Mark Twain quote and it’s hilarious you got to use it here!
I’m glad it’s exaggerated and that you got to enjoy some travels.
Cheers,
-Mark
