Morgan 382 1980 SOLD

wild382

John
$32k...OBO I posted this over in the “for sale” section but wanted maximum views. Just got out of the hospital. No fun...Have to sell for health reasons. Don’t be afraid to make an offer.

Located in the Northeast but the boat can be taken down the Champlain canal out to the Sea (Atlantic) through New York.

Here we are just “ghosting” along on autopilot...as you can see by the water’s surface there’s not much wind but the Morgan 382 Wild Oats is moving along at a very respectable 3.8 knots. A great boat with great sails makes a difference.

Gosh, I’m sorry to hear that John!

If anyone is considering a Morgan 38, Wild Oats is certainly a good specimen. One of the most photogenic ships on this forum.

Thanks for all your contributions to this site, John, and best of luck with the health.

John

I am so sorry to hear of your health problems. Hope you have no trouble selling Wild Oats and that you return to good health.

Thank you Jim
This forum has the best bunch of helpful people that are generous with their knowledge and time. Strange how fast ten years went by.

John, I wish you well, I've always like the name of your boat. I showed my wife a picture of the inside of it and just fell in love with the cushions. Keep the spirits up and we will be thinking of you.

Thanks Rick. We first visited the Morgan 38 site 11 years ago I think. Great bunch of people. Feels a bit like family.
Wild Oats was named in 1980. We have a cap sent to us from the tactician of the Hobart Fame Wild Oats. It is a special boat. Maybe it’s those cushions!
Thx again Rick.

John, so sad to hear of you health issues. You and Joni were instrumental in our purchasing a 382 after taking us out as complete strangers. Wishing you both the very best and let me know if there is anything we can do. Steve happened to be showing your boat on Saturday and had a chance to meet the prospective buyers, did all I could to assist. I am sure it won't take long. we will miss seeing you on the water.

Thank you Dave...We will always will remember our dinner together with you and Lisa and how we “chickened out” selling Wild Oats to you back then.

I really enjoyed the adventure though of completing the delivery of your Morgan 382 when you were hospitalized. Thx for that.

Joni really wants to keep sailing. You know she loves it. Thanks again Dave for the friendship...working on getting better but have to sell and that is sad.
Ironically I think it was Lisa’s last day at the hospital the day I was admitted. Gotta love our small towns.

John: sorry to hear about everything. Certainly hope that your health situation improves or advances, whatever is required.
From personal knowledge of the history of the Wild Oats I know she is a great boat.
Good luck going forward on both issues.

Thanks Dick...for the last 10 years I have found this Morgan forum to be one of the best forums for “everything you always wanted to know about the Morgan but we’re afraid to ask” forums out there. You have all been great helpful people making sailing our boat so much more fun by having sort of “extended family” here to ask questions and follow what others were doing.
Following Warren across the Pacific, bringing some new “used sails” down for Ken and seeing Mark take over the helm of the new website to help it grow even more and keep it going are a few high spots for my wife and I. Delivering Namaste the last leg of her trip to Lake Champlain under beautiful weather was great too. I think this is what sailing was suppose to be about. Thank you everyone.

I'm sorry to hear, John. Hopefully your recovery goes quickly, and best of luck on the sale. It's got to be tough when you don't want to sell!

Wild Oats' spirit lives on as her "old" sails will be propelling HuskaBean across the Atlantic!

Hope to see a blog on your travels

Wild Oats has sold to a great younger couple. I’m sure many new and great memories will be made on our (now theirs) dear boat we loved for 10 years.
The people we met, the friends we made and those many unfortunately that have passed on...thank you.
John and Joni
S/V Wild Oats ...a great boat!

We are sorry to hear that you and Joni had to let her go. It sounds like you are happy with the new owners. Where will they be sailing her to? I spoke to Jim Cullen, he is sorry that he missed his chance and that he will keep on looking. Good luck to both of you.

I’ll let you know. Let’s stay in touch too. I learned so much about our boat it’s a waste not to visit here once in a while to see if I can help...

John,
Happy to hear Wild Oats will be sailing with new owners, guess the survey went well. We are going to miss you both on the water. Hope we can stay in touch.

Dave and Lisa

Good luck with your health issue John.
You will miss your boat, I miss mine. I even gave some passing thought to buying yours. I know how well you took care of her.

Yes I know ...we were very sad today as we left. Kept busy showing all the finer points of a really great boat. The sails alone when they went up got some attention...they are beautiful. Those cushions are of course incredible ...you get a certain connection with a boat I don’t think you ever lose or forget.
